FIRE UPDATE

The fire close to where we live remains burning, but has been contained.  FYI, we are okay!!  Approximately 8,000 acres burnt in this fire yesterday. The local news media states approximately 54,000 acres in Oklahoma burnt yesterday alone.
The entire state is under a burn ban which was recently issued by our Governor because of the severe drought.
Latest news from Channel 9 OKC, several of the fires were caused by cigarette butts, burning garbage, catalytic converters, lightning and the worst; a damned arsonist.   Acres have burned, many homes, and businesses destroyed.  The temperatures are extreme, and 7 firefighters have been injured.

  4. Lifting you and your state up in prayer. Those fire fighters have their hands full! People are so stupid when it comes to carelessness or ill-willed intention.

    1. Mrs. Mac, Thank you so much, you are a sweet friend :-) The Firefighters are really busy and don't have relief. Fires keep popping up, the temperature is 116 + the temperature of the fires.
Donations have been made of water, food and ice to help those working the fires and families who have evacutated. We have a family in our church that lost everything in these fires. The church is trying to help them out the best they can.

  5. Glad to hear that you're all okay. Bushfires (wildfires) are scary! Hope they catch the arsonist and that they're 'severely' dealt with!

    1. Katie,

We're being real careful and keeping an eye on everything. Fires here always get bad because it's so dry. One year, almost the entire state was on fire (years ago).

  7. Joe fought many fires, and quite a few dangerous ones, during his 36 years. He only got injured twice, but each time, my heart would stop beating.

    1. Thank You! Fires move fast and can be extremely devastating. Agreed they're no fun. Another fire was up and running this afternoon. This will continue until about winter time.
