Screwing our Military AGAIN!!!!!

Our government has established a commission designed to make changes involving our military (active and retired) benefits and pay.  If you’re in the military or have retired, I suggest you read this article and be aware of the suggested changes.  Then write your congressmen because this is not going to be good for those who have served this country.

Commission calls for abolishing Tricare
“Under the recommendations, active-duty members and mobilized reserve component members still would receive medical care from the U.S. military, with easier access to specialty care in the civilian sector if they need it.
But their family members, and retirees under 65 and their family members, would receive health care through commercial insurers, similar to the plans run under the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program.”  Read this article here.

Face Zit

While standing in line at the post office, a woman in front of me was attempting to seal a package, and needed a little help holding the box closed while she worked the tape.  Since I was right there in line, I offered to help.  She was returning a product, I won’t say the name of it; however, I will mention the product was designed to help control acne and get rid of blemishes on your face.    She wasn’t happy with the results or the product.

Since the line was long, and we both had plenty of time ahead of us, a conversation ensued.  This young woman asked me what I use on my face to have such a clear and beautiful complexion.  Of course I giggled, not expecting such a question.  I told her I use all natural products, I don’t buy any of the gimmicks advertised on the television, radio, or computer for cleaning my face.  I also use this natural process to help get rid of pimples and dark spots on my face.  She then proceeded to ask me what natural products I use, and if I could give her an example.

I mentioned to her how I take care of my face.  I take a thin wash cloth (texture of a nice soft cotton diaper or cotton circles), lay it down, pour a little organic lemon juice on the cotton cloth, then I dip the wet cloth in a small bowl of organic sugar, splash warm water on my face and gently place the cloth lined with lemon juice and sugar, on my face.  In a circular motion, I gently massage my face with the cloth, making sure to massage my cheeks, sides of face, forehead, nose, and chin (the T section) keep the lemon juice and sugar away from your eyes.   Keep rubbing your face for about 60 seconds or so (you will notice the cloth will show dirt when you’re done massaging your face), then I thoroughly rinse my face with warm water, and pat it dry with a towel.   You’ll notice your face will be nice and soft.

I wash my face every evening using this process just before bed. I never use any commercial soap on my face because it’s a sensitive area, it causes my skin to dry out and form bright red spots (a reaction).

Here’s a cute video I found on You Tube by Kandee Johnson called, “The Skin Doctor: LEMON TRICK”.  This video explains the process of washing your face with the organic lemon and sugar.  When I found Kandee’s video years ago, I knew this process would work. I started the process immediately, and my face is totally clear of blemishes, and nice and soft.

In the morning, I take warm water and splash it several times on my face to help clear the cob webs out, LOL…….then I moisturize my face with almond goats milk lotion created by Michaele, a friend of mine.  Check out Michaele’s blog Sprout ‘N’ Wings Farm, it’s a great blog where she talks about her family, her animals, and her business called Sisters Five Soap & Lotion Works; where you can find awesome lotions, soaps, body butters, and lotion bars.

Finally, I would like to thank my good friend, Gail (her blog At The Farm go check out her blog…..NOW) for introducing me to Sisters Five Soap & Lotion Works.  Last year, Gail surprised me with a gift of this awesome soap and lotion.   Since then, I continue to order my soaps and lotions from Michaele.

Do you have a ritual for cleaning the grunge off of your face?

Letttttuce and Gas

This evening, our local news, Channel 5 News, posted a story about a lettuce shortage.  The story was about a notice written by Crest Grocery store, posted on the display for lettuce.  It apologizes for no lettuce, and indicates there’s a lettuce shortage, due to the weather in California and Arizona.  Notice the last sentence; it indicates the grocery store has been receiving heavy pro-rates on several items.

I wonder what the several items are.  Have you noticed problems with lettuce in your local grocery stores?  Are you aware of shortages of any food at your grocery store?  The last time I went shopping, I noticed the shelves are not stocked as usual, and certain items were not found.  Get your groceries while you can, as lack of groceries will only get worst as the economy falters.

Gas prices dropping, wooohooo……………. It’s nice not to pay close to $100.00 to fill your truck with gas.  Today, we walked away paying under $40.00.

Ultimately, in the end, we as American’s will end up paying for this decrease in gas, with the loss of jobs, or added taxes.

Gas prices in town today are:

Bulldog Man and I went to a flea market/antique show and found a porcelain dish pan in great condition for $20, and an old canning jar tool (for removing and placing the jar in a pressure canner/water bath) for $4.00.    This canning jar tool from earlier years was made better than the tool I received when I purchased my water bath kit.

Since the temperatures were much cooler, I canned several quarts of chicken broth.

I also had 50 pounds of pinto beans needing canned.  Started canning pint and quart jars after going through the pinto beans, pulling out rocks, sticks, and broken beans.  I was able to get about 25 pounds of beans canned, and have another 25 pounds waiting patiently for jars.

While cleaning the pint jars, I stuck my hand inside one with the sponge not realizing the jar was broken, and ended up cutting my thumb.
I think we have enough canned beans for now; the rest will have to wait.

Bulldog Man and I drove up to the big city and went fishing on Saturday, and Monday, being it was a holiday.  I was able to get some nice pictures at Dolese Pond up in Oklahoma City while fishing.

1st day fishing.

Second day fishing.

Unfortunately there were no trout caught; however, we did enjoy the peaceful time together.

What did you do this weekend?
