Updates.................

I have all these little tomatoes all over my garden bed, none of them are red yet.  I’m waiting patiently for them to ripen……….not really, I lied, lol.

The luffa has taken over one of my garden beds, it has these bright beautiful yellow flowers, I can’t wait until the fruit starts producing.

It looks like the parsnips and carrots will be ready to harvest about the same time this season.  I can’t wait, I love roasting root vegetables and making it a meal.

Tomorrow, Bulldog Man and I are heading to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for a formal retirement ceremony, for a good friend retiring after 32 years in the military.  After the ceremony, we plan on heading south toward Alamogordo, New Mexico, where we plan on dropping in on Bulldog Man’s parents.  Truthfully, our goal is to put eyes on Bulldog Man’s parents to make sure they’re okay. Bulldog Man’s father has just recovered from having cancer, and his Mom was just diagnosed with having skin cancer.  It will be a short but nice visit.

While gone, Tank will be taking care of our house and animals.

Update on my father; he’s returned home again from the hospital.  His sores have healed, and he’s completing physical therapy at home right now.  He now has a hospital bed at home, and a lift to help him in and out of bed.  He’s been getting around the house with a wheel chair, and re-learning to walk, slowly.  Soon he will be restarting his chemo- therapy. After having PET Scans, it’s been determined his cancer has stabilized.  My father has decided this cancer will not control his life, he will control this cancer.

In closing, remember to drink plenty of water with this heat.  Be safe and enjoy gardening.  I will be back to posting on Monday.  I will also have another give-away I would like to share with all of you.

    1. Sweet Kymber,

My Dad is a brave and courageous man, he also fought for this country and served in Vietnam. I will give my husbands friend a kiss and hug for you!

The luffas as doing well, I just wish I had some fruit from them.

I have no worries at all, Tank can take care of himself. He's a great kid (aka: Man now).

    1. Harry,

Beautiful countryside there in Albuquerque. Funny thing, I feel much better out there than I do in Oklahoma. Once we arrived back home my body aches and my sinus' going crazy with all the humidity.

  7. THE SORES HAVE HEALED!!! It's horrible to have to treat the treatment as well as the disease.

Joe and I are probably closer to your parent's age than yours, and it's horrifying to see how we don't "bounce back" anymore. It is so disheartening.

You probably won't read this until you get home, but, I desperately want a good "pepper jelly" recipe and I know you'll have one. I think the one I love contains sweet red peppers....with some jalapenos for heat. Not sure and the google recipes all have flaws in them.

    1. Lotta Joy,

They say when we get older, it takes for ever for things to heal. And if they don't heal, we run into problems and issues, some of which will get resolved and other that just won't. Which means we just have to live with it.

I don't have a recipe for pepper jelly, however I have saved this one recipe to try one day. I've copied the site here, it may interest you. http://www.diaryofahumblechef.com/jalapeno-pepper-jelly/

    1. B,

Yes Ma'am it's very hard to deal with or watch a parent go through an illness. All I can do is help where help is needed and pray. Thank you my friend,
      Sandy

  9. I am jealous that you get to go to Albuquerque. Love that city! My tomatoes are being stubborn about turning this year. I am sure when they do it will be all at once. Parsnips are still a ways off here. Safe travels.

    1. Michaele,

We did get to go but the trip was short and fast. From Albuquerque we drove 200 miles south to Tularosa, NM. We drove safely but several of the vehicles beside us failed too. Thank you!
