HUMP DAY........ & Things

Happy Hump Day!!!!

After yesterday’s post, I went through all of my seeds and decided not only was I going to have beans and peas in my fall garden, I’m going to plant Bush Champion cucumbers, vegetable spaghetti squash, Waltham broccoli, and carrots.  That’s it; I don’t have it in me to plant anything else.
This morning, I went ahead and planted those additional seeds.
While planting seeds, I checked on the vegetables left from my spring garden.  The eggplant continues to grow, still not big enough to harvest.  The parsnips should be pulled out of the ground next week, and the asparagus, will stay in the ground until next spring.
My tomatoes are still growing and green.  The surprise melon vines growing in and between the tomato plants are producing melons like crazy.  I just harvested another full size cantaloupe.  I think I will have cantaloupe every week until we get our first frost.  The timing couldn’t be any better, this way we don’t get sick of melon.  To my friend John Grey, I didn’t harvest two……so we don’t have BOOBIES on display………..only one BOOB displayed, Bahahahahahaha………

Today was also a day of cleaning out the refrigerator of those meals not totally finished, and expired/old condiments.

I’ve also been surfing the internet for ideas on what to do with the large pile of jeans my son gave me.  He recently decided to clean his room and go through all of his clothes to figure out which still fit, and pull out those that are too big or small.  This is how I became the holder of the pile of jeans he no longer wants.  Bulldog Man was gifted with approximately 15 t-shirts; these are great for making into rags.

On a final note, I would like to thank Lotta Joy.  She took time to make me a card by hand for sending her green Chiles to try.

  1. I did a lot of forethought about the card I wanted to make for you. The last one I sent you was blank, so you could send it to someone else. But I was so grateful for your friendship that I HAD to make it personalized just for YOU.

You are a good friend to many, but I appreciate the heck out of your friendship with ME. I'm gonna start sniffling in a minute. I'm sure it's just the chilis.

  2. My 80-yr-old mom still gardens, and it's one of the few things I miss from the Midwest. Our yard is WAY too small to even try.

    1. Rev. Paul,

I love gardening myself, it's very relaxing. Not only am I providing food for my family, I'm providing a health environment for myself (stress reliever).

Have you considered gardening in pots?

The melon looks good even if there isn't a twin wink.

  4. hey sweet Sandy - even though it's only one boob, it's still a fine looking melon - bahahahah! i need to do as you - go through my seeds and figure out what i want to plant for the fall garden. the last 2 days have been grey, today is grey and windy, but the weekend is supposed to be nice and sunny - good time to get the seeds started! i know you have room somewhere to store those jeans - keep them. i would find a place in this crappy little cottage to keep them - i don't have any suggestions on what to do with them but there must be something! i'll look around on the internet for some uses. much love to you, The Bulldog and Tank!

    1. Sweet Kymber,

Thank you on the 1 boob, lol......The melon this year is really sweet and yummy.

I enjoy going through my seeds all the time, I start fantasying about having this overly large garden with vines, bushes, and plants every where producing massive amounts of vegetables and fruits. So many, I don't have any place to put it all, :-)

The jeans can be stored but I'm thinking about truly making something. I need hot pads and some placemats for my table.

Much love back to you and Jambaloney!!
      Your Friend,
      Sandy

  5. Oh I think your garden bounty is fantastic. I once made a quilt top out of jeans I have to say it was a lot of work and is heavy to sleep under but it looked great. That reminds me I wonder who has that now:) B

    1. B,

This year my gardens are much smaller than last, thank you for the beautiful compliment on my garden.

Quilts, I love them but can't sew very well. Even in school when in home economics class I failed the sewing semester, lol

  7. You are planting a lot IMO. I hope everything grows well. I am trying my hand at a fall garden as well. A few tomatoes, broccoli & cabbage, we'll see.

    1. DFW,

Are you talking Indigenous Micro-Organisms? If so, then it will be a good thing like yeast is to bread :-)

I believe you will be able to have a very healthy harvest of tomatoes this time of year. As for broccoli and cabbage, this is a first for me to plant in the fall. I can't advise what will happen with these two type of vegetables.

I have my winter garden going or as much of a winter garden as one could get while living in Florida. Right now its just turnips, and collards.
They are sprouting up nicely though.

I didn't even catch that I was your 86th follower, lol
Welcome to my blog, I will welcome you with an official post in the next day or so.

Turnips and collards make for a great winter garden. I hope you have a very healthy harvest :-) My collards didn't make it, those darn bugs wouldn't die.

    1. I usually do really well with collards, this is my first time with turnips.
Bugs killed my cucumbers..it was the dreaded pickle worm that wiped them out.. ugggg
