Itsy Bitsy Spider, Not!!!

Baby Tarantula walked across our gravel driveway into the grass.  You can see he’s having a hard time crossing the front yard.

Bulldog Man didn’t want me to kill this spider…..trust me I was ready!!!

    1. Susan,
      We didn't get close, LOL
I actually wanted to kill it but hubby didn't, he wanted me to leave it be since it wasn't bothering us.

  2. We've got jumping spiders that are huge where I live. Stepping on one of those things leaves an actual carcass that needs to be dealt with!

We used to have tarantulas as well, but I haven't seen one in twenty years...

These jump as well!!! I hear the bite is painful, and didn't want to get to close. This is the first tarantulas I seen this big, and apparently he's a baby.

  3. I have never (thank goodness I think!) seen one of those down here in all the years I've lived in this part of Texas. Wow. Yeah, I would't have killed it either. I don't think they are dangers and when they are bigger they can eat mice and stuff I believe.

  4. I have always heard that tarantulas can jump way up off the ground. I wonder if that's true? If so, they're even more disconcerting than just their appearance would indicate.

    1. Harry,

They can jump, I'm not sure how high. My husband says the young ones possibly 1 to 2 feet whereas the older ones a bit further. I didn't want to test it out by messing with this spider.

    2. They wouldn't have to bite me once they jumped on me. I'd be laying there dead already from a heart attack.

    3. Harry,

My husband would be laying there as well!!!! He had a real back experience years ago with falling into a large nest of banana spiders. He can't stand spiders at all!!!
