Snow, Medical, Beans

It’s snowing in the panhandle of Oklahoma!!!  Tonight, in southern Oklahoma, we’re to expect frost.  I’m debating on going out and covering my peas, or just waiting to see if they’ll make it.  Temperatures are predicted to go back up into the 70’s over the weekend.

Bulldog Man’s doctor decided to operate on his right hand and arm, cleaning out around the nerve.  This nerve runs up his arm into his neck. Somewhere between the hand and neck the nerve is pinched, creating migraines.  The neurosurgeon would rather start attempting to eliminate the migraines, and neck issues, first with the minor surgeries, instead of going directly for the more serious surgery of cutting his neck open, and working from the front of the neck into the back, to work on the nerves and vertebrae.  If doing minor surgery resolves the medical problems, then we’re both okay with this decision.  Bulldog Man is taking it easy for the next couple of days and will return to work on Monday.  He’ll need to keep an eye on his hand and arm; stitches will be removed in two weeks at the follow up doctor’s appointment.
I know you're talking about me!
This morning, Beans went into the Vet, for his yearly teeth cleaning. He wasn’t too happy with me; he thought he was going for a ride in the truck, not a ride to the Vet.  The Vet called and stated Beans did really well, his teeth are clean and good, no extractions.  He’s a healthy, beasty boy.  Yes, he’s slightly overweight and spoiled.  I’ll admit he was overweight when we rescued him, but this didn’t make me love him any less.

I don’t have a lot to say today, I just wanted to let everyone know I’m alive and reading everyone’s blogs.  Have a great weekend, and stay warm.

I hope so too, it's making him miserable. We will try everything minor before having to do he major surgery through his neck.

    1. B,

I'm hoping it works, other wise will have to have the major surgery.

  5. I sure hope the surgery works for BM. I'm also a rescue mama... and most people don't realize that we need to keep our 4 legged babies healthy too with good dental hygiene practices. (I'm retired from dentistry) I knew I liked you! :}

  7. Here's to good luck with the surgery. Nerve damage sucks.

You should call that little dog crockpot cause he would just about fit for a slow roasting :)

    1. PP,

Yes, nerve damage is no fun. Thank you, I'm hoping this surgical procedure will help with the migraines.

I was reading what you mentioned about Beans, and he growled. I guess he didn't like being stuff in a crockpot......Bahahahahhaha!!!!!

  11. Hope that's not Bulldogs Bud-Lite arm the doc's messing with! :-)

Hope it all goes well. I used to date a girl who had migraines and they were painful and miserable.

Your dog is like mine. We get in the truck and she thinks she's going for a ride and then I pull into the Vet's parking lot and her head snaps around to give the stare that says you tricked me again!

    1. Mike,

No it's not his bud lite arm, lol..........that's his left arm!!!!

I'm hoping this will help resolve the issue of migraines. Migraines are no fun, they really knock down the person who get them.

Beans whips his head around and I really think he says a cuss word under his breath, lol
Dogs, you have to love them!!!
After picking Beans up from getting his teeth clean, I took him for a nice ride. He sat on the middle glove box with attitude.

    1. JUGM,

I hope so too!!!! The doc is trying everything to prevent having to do surgery directly through his neck.

It sounds like it's a bit cool there in Carolina. Have fun while away from home and don't work to hard. Will you all be fishing??
Temperatures went to 32 here last night.

  13. All the best to Bulldog Man. Hope he obeys orders and heals. You know we men can be stubborn when it comes to our health, I'm just sayin'. Ha.

Stay warm, and remember, while he's recovering, get in some zen machine time! :-)

    1. 1st Man,

Thanks!!!! He has no choice he will obey or he will be in trouble with me :-)

Oh.......I got in the zen time when he was at work on Wednesday!!!! I had so much fun using the tractor. Now I just need to keep our son off of it. I've hidden the key (Evil Grin)

  14. Sandy, Thank you for checking in and letting us know. It's a good thing he is a bulldog man and made of tough stuff. A pinched nerve which triggers migraines sounds perfectly awful. I hope the answer is found very soon. I hate to take dogs or have the vet here to do dental on horses. None of them really understand that we are trying to take the best care of them, and I always feel badly. Stay warm. I know it's October, but Winter seems as if it's in a hurry this year.

    1. Jane,

Yes, he's one tuff little %^$&%*$%*. It is awful, doc is hoping to do the minor surgeries to get rid of the problem. If this doesn't work, then we must have the neck surgery.

We have a really good Vet. He's handled all of our animals, the only issue I have, he uses all the new technologies and they can be pricey.

We have bundled up to go outside, temperatures hit 32 with a wind making it feel like 22.

  16. Bull Dog Man has gone through so much with this. I really pray that this gives him the relief he needs. Little Bean is so cute! My two little dogs and two cats just went for the annual check ups. They are all doing pretty well. So good that you keep his teeth cleaned. You are a good momma!
Did you get snow? How did the peas do?
    Blessings,
    Susie

    1. Susie,

Yes, Bulldog Man has had so many problems with this. Thank you for your prayers.

Beans gets his teeth professionally cleaned every year, and we brush his teeth........................he tries to eat the tooth brush.

We didn't get snow, areas in the panhandle and Northern Oklahoma did. It was 32 degrees with some rain.

I went out and checked on my peas, there doing good. They didn't freeze!!!!
