I’ve always loved this house. Every time I drive into town, I swing by this
place. Today, it’s decorated for fall
and Halloween.
Here’s a tree that caught my eye, with its golden
leaves, they shimmer in the breeze.
Because today was chilly and dreary outside, I made
Bulldog Man a treat of homemade Ginger Snap cookies from a recipe submitted by
RAMB, posted on allrecipes.com.
Grandma’s Gingersnaps
Ingredients
¾ cup butter (or
margarine)
1 cup white
sugar
1 egg
¼ cup molasses
2 cups all
purpose flour
1 tablespoon
ground ginger
1 teaspoon
ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons
baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
(1/2 cup white
sugar for decoration)
Instructions
Preheat
oven 350 degrees.
In
a bowl, cream together the butter and 1 cup white sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and molasses until well
blended. Combine the flour, ginger,
cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Stir
into the molasses mixture to form dough.
Roll dough into 1 inch balls and roll the balls in the ½ cup white sugar. Place cookies 2 inches apart on an ungreased
cookie sheet. Bake 8 – 10 minutes, place cookies on wire rack to cool.
Love those pictures.
ReplyDeleteI can smell the cookies!
Gail,
DeleteThanks!!! The cookies are delicious, hubby loves them.
MMMMM Cookies :)
ReplyDeleteAlthough the only REAL cookies are chocolate chip.
PP,
DeleteYes, cookies.
Okay, I have to agree the real cookies are chocolate chip or even peanut butter.
OMG I love that little house. There is one like it near the boys school, I always make it a point to look at it.
ReplyDeleteThose Ginger snaps look yummy, but I agree with PP.... Chocolate Chips are the best. I found an excellant recipe for them on the label of the Butter flavored Crisco...
JUGM,
DeleteI love this house too. They even decorate for Christmas. I pass this house every time I go into town and I have to slow down to get my visual fix, lol........
The ginger snaps are delicious, hubby's favorite. I love chocolate chip cookies myself. I'll have to try that recipe one of these days. Thanks!
Someone has to tell me just how do I go about having that much time to decorate the house for every season?
ReplyDeleteMike,
DeleteI don't have time either, heck I don't even have electric outside the old home. Unless I use our generator, and I'm to frugal to run the generator for seasonal lights.
Obviously must be a retired school teacher. They keep this house beautiful throughout the year.
Well, can't say I enjoy ginger snaps, but the house looks nice! Tell them to swing by my place & decorate all they want!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn,
DeleteI will, that is after they decorate mine first, lol.......
The resident did a great job on those house decorations.
ReplyDeleteMatt,
DeleteThe resident sure did, they do this kind of decorating for every holiday. I think they need to decorate my house what do you think???
That's a lot of jack o' lanterns and bales of hay/straw. Hopefully, they have help with the carving.
ReplyDeleteFall is a great time for baking cookies, a time when the extra heat won't run a person out of the kitchen. It does feel sort of cozy.
Linda,
DeleteI believe the residents are retired. Yes it sure is!
Oh that is a sweet little house. I borrowed your cookie recipe My Hero will love them. Thank you . Hug B
ReplyDeleteI always intend to at least get a bale of hay & a few pumpkins to put on my front porch but never seem to get around to it. I went to an estate sale last Friday & ALL the houses on that street were decorated. Even the one for the sale. Many were as elaborate as Christmas decorations.
ReplyDeleteThose cookies sound delicious!
Sandy,
ReplyDeleteDid someone say COOKIES???? LOL I just love cookies. They are pretty much my favorite dessert except for pies. So they are my favorite except for pies and maybe cake. I like cake too. So they are my favorite except for... lol shoot who am I kidding, I just love desserts! I'll have to try those ginger snaps. They look soooo good. Now that Fall is here and I can bake indoors again I'm gonna put my baking hat back on for a few months!
Our leaves are turning here too. It's just beautiful around here right now. I need to take some pictures. Last year we didn't have much "color" since we pretty much fried all summer long. This year there was enough rain through the summer that the colors are amazing!
Hugs to you and yours,
Sci
I am going to remember to come back here for that recipe!
ReplyDeleteMichaele,
DeleteMy husband loved these cookies, I hope you do too.
Cookies were good My Hero thanks you:) Hug B
ReplyDeleteB,
DeleteYou made them, cool!!!! I'm glad your Hero enjoyed them. There great with a hot cup of tea.
Sandy, Those cookies look delicious ! I agree, that home looks like sweet country perfection.
ReplyDeleteJane,
DeleteThe cookies are delicious if you like ginger snaps. If I could move this house from downtown into the country I would snatch it up right now.
Hey Sandy!..I've missed reading your blog. I am going to try to get back into posting on mine again and catching up with everyone. Love the neatness of the house and drooling over the cookies!
ReplyDeleteMamma Bear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
