We Bugged Out Tornado On Top Of Us

Tornado over our house, we had 2 minutes and we bugged out.  Hit the road heading south about 45 minutes away from our home waited for all to pass.  We returned to the house, the house is standing and okay.  Some tree branches twisted, broken and fence messed up a little bit.

Very crazy, this one tornado came up fast and ended up over the top of us. We are expecting more bad weather tomorrow. We will stay safe, thank you.

    1. Linda,

We saw it coming, and grabbed the animals and our son and got the heck out of there. We drove south for 45 minutes and turned around we could see everything. When we returned home we were worried we wouldn't have a home because it was over the top of our home. Small damage to property, no damage to our house. This same tornado headed east of us and destroyed all kinds of homes.

Yes, we are safe. I'm happy we left the house when we did. More storms tomorrow. I think this place "Oklahoma" has aged me with the storms, fires, and earthquakes.

    1. Kelly,

Thank you! It was very hairy. I've been long over tornado season. It started when the weather men first said this is the start of tornado season. I don't have patience for these tornadoes.

    1. HL,

Thanks, we are okay. We determined this tornado was coming right over us and didn't know if our house would be standing. We bugged out, where to lower section of the cone is in the picture above is right where our house is. Tomorrow is another day of storms, ya'll stay safe too.

    1. PP,

Thanks! I already have those ruby slippers and they are not providing any help or assistance on taking me away from Oklahoma yet. How did you make out with the weather? I hope everyone is well there?

  14. Do you have bug out bags on the ready? We've been getting ours together. Don't get too many tornadoes in Florida and fortunately have good advance notice for hurricanes!

    1. Jillian,

Yes Ma'am we have bags ready. We used to live in Florida, and while there we were prepared for those nasty hurricanes. The worst for me, hurricane Andrew.

    1. Katie,

Yes it was right over the top of us, and then moved east (when it did, the tornado increased in size and became very bad). Fences and property are replaceable, lives are not.

      Thanks!

  16. Thank goodness you guys are safe! I can't even imagine the feeling of actually having to bug-out of your own place! Tornado's freak me out, like totally. And with good cause. Did you guys have any time to grab any stuff (did you have a B.O.B?) or did you just have to jump in the car & head for the hills??

    1. Carolyn,
This was just to be a storm when two circulations collided and head directly our direction relatively fast. We're thankful to be okay. Yes, we have bags ready for bugging out. We did have to grab the checkbook, animals, protection, and we were gone.
These pictures above were minutes after we got away from the funnel. I hate tornadoes!!!!

  18. Cheese and crackers woman...not good. Glad you and the house(mostly) are all ok!!!!!

I have been so busy I can't remember the last time I turned on a tv or radio, so I have not been aware of the weather issues except for a post by a friend on FB.

    Praying for you always though.

It's not good, more coming today. Thank you, were happy to be okay and have a home. Praying for families with no homes. There are two deaths now.

  19. You won't believe this, but know it's true. The last thing I did last night was check on Oklahoma. The first thing I did this morning was check on Oklahoma. Now I've even got Joe checking for me. We also watched the storm chasers and Mike Bettes (spelling?). Those were horribly scary looking. You don't have a basement? The destruction of all those homes will be 'old news' in a few days, but those poor people will be reeling for months to come, trying to piece their lives together and fighting their insurance company.

      We are okay!!!!!
This storm was head right for our area, then it turned and went to the town right next to where we live. We have friends with damage to their homes. No we don't have a basement, I went to a closet with the animals. We just now have cable and cell phones.
