20-Inches, You Wish!!!

Friday night, Bulldog Man and I pulled the old fish line off of our rods, and replaced it with new fish line.  We setup the tackle box, with the required hooks for fishing trout, along with bait, and fishing spoons.  We pulled out the cooler, set it next to the freezer so come morning; we could just throw in the frozen milk cartons from the freezer before heading out to fish.
On Saturday, Bulldog Man and I woke up real early, and headed into the big “O” to go to Dolese Youth Pond to go Trout Fishing.

We found a great place along the bank of the pond to setup between a couple of trees.   Notice the picture where the beaver had targeted the tree.

Then of course we had a couple of visitors; the infamous beaver, several ducks, geese, and turtles.   After getting comfortable, and placing the bait on the fishing poles, Bulldog Man pulled out a 12-inch Rainbow Trout, and throughout the day we had multiple bites.  We didn’t bring anything else home that day.  We decided to return to the Pond on Monday.  After setting up and baiting our poles, I ended up pulling out a 20-inch Brown Trout, and of course we had all kinds of bites.  I think Bulldog Man was a tad bit jealous, especially when we placed the two fish beside one another……………………..LOL!!!!!

My Brown Trout
Tomorrow evening, we’re planning on having the fish for dinner.  Bulldog Man will be helping me in the kitchen cooking up these nice looking fish.

  1. The Brown Trout is impressive. I can't remember if they are native or not to your area. I know my brother fishes for them in streams in the Sierra's but I think they are planted.

    1. Harry,

Thanks!!! I don't know if they're native to this area. I do know this particular pond the fish are brought in from Nebraska.

Once senior and I were fishing by the power plant, and as I was reeling in, my hook got caught on a nice 5 + pound flounder.. Senior caught nothing that day. Isn't fun?

Why thank you sweetie!!! Fishing is a lot of fun and very relaxing.
Did you get to reel in that flounder? Some days you don't catch a thing but you do get to relax and if you have company enjoy time with them.
I love going fishing with Bulldog Man, we just enjoy being in the outdoors together.

    1. Hey Sweet Kymber,

Thanks!!! Oh you bet I will take a picture of this baby after we cook it.

You should have seen Bulldog Man's face, we had just setup our stuff. I threw my line in within the first 20 minutes of being there, I caught this baby. I think my luck was with the bait I used, Garlic Marshmallow Glitter Fluorescent Orange with Glitter Trout Bait.

Sending Hugs and Love to you and Jambaloney.
      Your Friend,
      Sandy

  14. Country Life,

Don't be jealous, get your fishing license, and go.
It's so much fun and very relaxing at the same time.
And I can't forget gratifying when you catch a fish.

  15. Hard to imagine the kind of fishing you're doing this time of year. Of course, we can fish, too, but it is strictly ICE FISHING. Conditions for ice fishing are a little challenging this year because we got heavy snow before the ice froze solidly. This kind of situation creates slushy snow in many spots that tends to grab snowmobiles (vehicle of choice for going out on the lakes) and bog them down.

    You're fishing in open water and getting a tan and we're fishing through ice at frigid temps and risking frostbite to our . . . unmentionables. Are you sure we live in the same country?? ;o}

    1. Mama Pea,

I was actually fishing from the bank of this pond. Our temperatures have been all over the place. From below zero, to the 20's, up to 63, and now going back into single digits.
Oh I do know about ice fishing, and it's not fun. I'm from Marquette, Michigan way up there in the upper peninsula.
I get a tan any time I'm outside, it's because I have an olive complexion. Yes Ma'am, we live in the same country :-)

  16. Howdy Sis,

I love the fish story. Hope you enjoyed the dinner. This kind of brings me back to another fishing adventure you and Bulldog Man took in Virginia. I seem to recall he got the wrong end of that fishing line :) I know he's gonna kill me for saying that LOL.

I like the fish tails from your fishing excursions. I can't help but smile while i am typing this post. Hope you tell that story some day......

    Love ya both

Dinner was amazing! It's been a long while since I've had trout. Oh does it ever. Yes, and to think he thought he got shot in the @#$.
You know he's going to get even with you, pay backs are hell, lol

Oh I will tell that story but I need to be careful because I know a few Blogger friend that would have a field day with the story. Like my friends Kymber, Jambaloney and Pioneer Preppy.

      Love you too.
