Blood Letting 101

A loud growl;

Bulldog Man ran from the living room to the kitchen sink.

Blood droplets on the floor, making a trail leading to the kitchen sink.

You ask……..

What happened????

Let me make a long story short.

Beans, our killer Chihuahua, was scrounging around the couch where Tank had sat down earlier to eat some popcorn.  Beans started pushing his paw under the couch, where he had found a piece of popcorn that had fallen earlier.

Beans grabbed the popcorn and ran to the middle of the living room floor, to display he had something he knew he wasn’t suppose to have.

Bulldog Man jumped up and ran over to Beans, to take away the popcorn.  Beans decided this was his piece of popcorn, and he was not going to give it up.  Beans turned into protection mode, growled and immediately bit Bulldog Man.

Beans knew he did wrong, because as soon as he ate the popcorn, he ran to Bulldog Man at the kitchen sick with this look of OMG……Pappy, I’m so sorry!!!!!

I guess the moral of this story; don’t take the popcorn away from Beans…..AKA: Killer, the little Chihuahua.

    1. PP,

Beans is a good dog, never had any real problems with him. My husband thought originally the dog had one of those packing peanuts that's why he tried to get the item from him.

Beans is fast, he may grab a hold of your leg before I could do anything to help you, lol

  3. YIKES! That looks painful! Glad no hard feelings in the end. And make sure bulldog man keeps it clean and uses all the good hydrogen peroxide and antibacterial ointments. Bites can be nasty.

    Hope it's warmer for you!

    1. 1st Man,

It was very painful, and it took a while to get it to stop bleeding. No hard feelings, we love this little dog.

Yes, bites can be very nasty. Beans is up to date on all of his shots.
We lifted the torn tissue completely, cleaned the bite with beta-dine, peroxide, and packed with triple antibiotic.

Bulldog Man's finger is doing well, no infection, no damage, and it's starting to heal.

It's not warmer at all, starting to get real cold again. Expecting 2 inches of snow tomorrow and more on Tuesday.

    1. Sweet Kymber,

We all are okay........well maybe not Bulldog Mans finger, lol
Bulldog Man was worried Beans had found one of those packing peanuts for packages. Being I had just finished packing a package.
Those peanuts are dangerous for animals, he wanted to make sure Beans didn't have one of those in his mouth. Because it really looked like a packing peanut. Thank God it wasn't but it was too late for Bulldog Man's finger.

Bulldog Man's finger is healing well, I gave him a hug from you :-)
We both gave Beans a hug and scratch behind his ears from you.

Sending love to you and Jambaloney.

Anyway, I know it hurt like heck.. hope it feels better soon. If not, then chihuahua makes a great burrito

Oh it sure does hurt (it doesn't matter how) when you injure a finger because of all the nerves running through.

    1. Carolyn,

They say a small dogs bite is worst than a large dog.

Actually, Bulldog Man thought Beans had one of those packing peanuts made of Styrofoam (not good for animals). I had just packed a package with peanuts. Come to find out, it wasn't a packing peanut........it was popcorn our son dropped while sitting on the couch.

That is what the dog did. He thought, this is my popcorn......NO you're not going to get it. I will fight you to the end, LOL.......

Beans is okay, we just changed our tone and told him he was a bad boy.

  11. Ouch! That is why I would never bother food belonging to any dog except one I trained. Chihuahuas are the worst.

  12. Linda,

We don't have problems with bothering the dog when he has food. And we would have let him have the popcorn but needed to make sure this was not a packing peanut since I had just packed a package.

Chihuahuas are not bad, one must always show them who the Pack Leader is first.

  13. Ooops! Tell Beans he's giving his breed a bad name! I wonder if small dogs tend to be more feisty and bite more frequently because they don't have much going for them size/strength wise? Good thing you both feel the same about Beans . . . otherwise, he would have found himself really in the dog house! He's a lucky pup you're so understanding.

    1. Mama Pea,

You just need to show the dog or (animal) whose the boss in the household, and things will be just fine.

Beans is truly a good little dog, and we're both animal lovers. We would never give him up.

  14. Ay Chihuahua! Sounds like it should be a bean burrito night :)

Tell BDMan to pour two shots of tequila, one to soak his finger the other to drink! I'll bring the bottle. I know it hurts with all the nerves kinda like smashing your face into a concrete slab (not that i would know how that feels).

Seriously glad it was not a packaging peanut for Beans sake That was a lot of work for Beans just for one kernal of popped corn......at least he got to eat it!!!

Take care, stay warm and dry
    Love Kim

    1. Kim,

      He could be, lol.......

Yes, the fingers have all those wonderful nerves running through them making it very painful when you injure a finger or hand.

Lucky for Bulldog Man we cleaned up his finger very well, and stopped the bleeding. I wanted to sew his finger up :-) (evil grin), Bulldog Man would have nothing to do with me wanting to stitch his finger up.

We are glad it wasn't the packaging peanuts like we thought. Yes, Beans ate the popcorn.

You and Mom stay warm and safe with the ice out there.
      Love you both,
      Sandy
