ICE ICE BABY PART 2

Hop aboard the ice train :-)
The bushy asparagus left for next year all frozen.
Just a house I passed going into town.  See all the trees around it.

Damage to some of our trees.

More trees damaged on the property.

We ventured out today to go to church, and then the feed store for our critters.  Amazingly enough, the roads were totally clear.  The only thing you see now is damage……plenty of tree damage with ice all over the branches.
How is it where you’re at?

  1. Snowing here, with 3" to 6" expected. No ice (thank God!); stay safe, Sandy.

    1. Rev. Paul,

I would love to trade you. I prefer snow over ice any day.
We will be safe especially when having to cut back trees after the ice melts.

  2. 80 degrees and storm moving in. Weatherman says conditions are good for tornadoes. It's going to be a long evening

  3. So beautiful but so much trouble. We had ice under our snow but not this much. Thank goodness!

Reminds me of our ice storm a few years ago. I'm still talking about that one. No power for a long while but at least we had water and heat.

Glad you and your family stayed safe.

    1. Gail,

Yes, the ice is beautiful especially when it glistens in the sun.
Over 1 inch here of ice.
Thank God you had water and heat.
Thanks Gail, I'm happy we all are safe.

  4. Wow, we used to get ice like that a few times in the winter in Memphis...beautiful and a mess in other ways...but always so magical to look at. I just got through reading your back canning archives...wow, watermelon jelly looked so delicious, and all the other canning projects you did..I'm very impressed!

    1. Robbyn,

It's really beautiful, especially when the sun hits it and it glistens or shines line diamonds.

Thank you, I'm working on canning meats this time around. I've done chicken and it came out really good. Next will be beef, and maybe pork. I have all kinds of bones to do some more broth.

I love the pictures of the ice on the trees glistening. The ice is extremely heavy and dangerous.

    1. Leigh,

Ice is beautiful if you don't need to be out in it.
I love when it glistens with the sun shining on it.

  10. You all got a lot more ice than we did...Ours was gone by the next afternoon...Now we are just left with cold temps...I think it was back in '06 maybe earlier we got a massive ice storm something like 3 inches of ice... and were without power for 3 weeks...that was the beginning of our 'prepping' lifestyle...Hope things melt soon for y'all...stay safe!

    1. HL,

We received about 1 solid inch on everything, and it's not melted. What's funny the roads are clear. That is there clear until this ice melts off of the trees and cars. I don't foresee the ice melting until this weekend. Temperatures remain low.

      I remember the '06 storm!!

  11. WOW! Your photos are amazing! Such beauty in an ice storm, but so much damage as well! Stay safe! We are finally warming up some here. It's been in the mid 40's the last few days after weeks of below zero temps and highs in the teens! The 40's feel rather balmy!

  12. While all the ice looks pretty and even artistic, it can sure be damaging. Hope you made it through alright. We had some pretty deep freezes here, but it has warmed up again into the 30-40s. I enjoyed all of your pictures!
    Blessings,
    Susie

  14. Gammy Tammy,

Thank you so very much. It's very dangerous, today large chuck are hitting everything. One must always watch before walking outside.
Have a Merry Christmas too my friend.
    Hugs,
    Sandy
