I hope all of my Blogger friends had a wonderful
Easter weekend!
Bulldog Man and I spent Saturday and part of Sunday
down south in Texas at my parents’ place.
Since Mom is recovering from a foot infection and MRSA, and Dad is in
the process of fighting cancer, we decided to go down and work on their
property a bit. We cleaned up branches,
cut down dead trees, pruned several trees, stacked wood and piled debris for
bulk pickup. The visit was nice; I was
able to see that my Dad is finally able to keep food down, and has put on a
little weight. In fact, Dad insisted on going out to eat as
a family on Saturday evening. He was
craving BBQ Beef Ribs, since he was able to keep food down, and had a craving;
we were not going to deprive him his request for ribs. We piled into two vehicles, and drove into
Fort Worth to a place called Riscky’s BBQ.
Dad had 3 ribs, and some green beans,
all he could stomach at the time. He was
totally satisfied, you could tell by the smile on his face. Exhausted because this was a major outing for
him, we took him home and made sure he was comfortable in his lounge chair in
the family room to rest and watch a little television.
The all you can eat beef ribs are to die for at
Riscky’s, the wait staff was amazing, and Bulldog Man and I would highly
recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Fort Worth area of Texas.
Our overall visit down south was very productive,
and special for me to see my Dad doing better, gaining strength to tackle the
next step of his cancer recovery, chemotherapy.
Sandy,
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful news! I'm sure your parents appreciated all the help around the house as well.
DFW,
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes it is wonderful news. Yes, my parents really did apreciate everything we did this weekend to help them out.
Great news....so nice you two can help. The ribs sound delicious but I am a bit far away, so next time, have some for me!!!
ReplyDeleteJMG,
DeleteIt is great news, and I don't mind helping. Omg, the ribs were the best I've had in ages. Next time I go, I will make sure to have some for you.
Sandy, ask them if they deliver to Arizona? Thanks.
DeleteThey may just deliver to Arizona!!!
DeleteI am so glad to hear your dad and mom are doing ok...I love BBQ beef ribs...Sounds like a wonderful place to eat...glad you got to spend that time with your parents...What a blessing!
ReplyDeleteTHL,

My parents are doing better, I'm praying this positive healing continues.
The food was excellent too!!!
A wonderful blessing!
It's wonderful to hear that things went well - and I'm glad you got your Dad out for a good meal. Probably raised his spirits considerably. :)
ReplyDeleteRev. Paul,
DeleteThings went real well thank you.
Dad's spirits raised when he was able to get out of the house and stop dwelling on being sick. He loved his beef ribs!!!
Sandy, Glad to hear your dad is feeling better and you had a nice visit ☺
ReplyDeleteThose ribs sound yummy. My family loves any food they can gnaw off the bone!
Kelly,
DeleteThank you, our visit was wonderful, and Dad is feeling better. He still has more to go through and is trying to kick cancer in the butt. The ribs were so amazing, if your ever in the Fort Worth area, check out Riscky's.
It was gnawing good, lol....
I am happy to hear your father is doing better. Must have been nice for some warmer temps as well.
ReplyDeletePioneer Preppy,
DeleteHe's doing better and has a long haul to still work through. The weather was really nice there in Texas. Unlike the weather back home. Our son advised we had bad hail and high winds.
That is the best news I've heard all week. I can just imagine that beautiful smile.
ReplyDeleteGail,
DeleteHis smile was ear to ear. Even though he looked exhausted he had a blast. Getting out of the house and not having to think about being sick made a world of difference in his demeanor.
Sounds like a wonderful visit. Such a good report about your dad. I hope you mom is healing too.
ReplyDeleteLeigh,
DeleteIt was a wonderful visit, thank you. Great report for both Mom and Dad. Mom's foot is healing, she will have a cast for 2 more weekds and Dad, he's gaining his strength back before the start of chemotherapy.
You had me at "all you can eat ribs", ha. But seriously, how great that you were able to go do that for them. I know they appreciated it more than you can imagine. Sending good thoughts their way!!
ReplyDelete1st Man,
DeleteRibs get you and me all the time, lol.....
Yes, my parents really appreciated all the work we did for them. Dad really needed a change from being in the house.
Wonderful news!! Bet that outing was better medicine than any other for your dad. Sounds like it was a busy yet productive visit. I know they appreciate all the work you did
ReplyDeleteKatie,
DeleteThe outing was wonderful medicine for Dad, you could see it in his smile.
It was a very busy visit but well worth it.
So glad to read about your dad and glad you had a nice trip!!!
ReplyDeleteA Girl,
