What Do You Think?

Time to roll the dice; will it be severe thunder storms with tornadoes or a freezing snow storm?  We live in Oklahoma, where the weathermen all have said to expect the worst starting after 7PM tonight.  Remember it’s April 9th, what do you think we will end up experiencing tonight?

I lived in OK one winter and I sure remember a nasty ice storm!
But a tornado looks pretty bad too...

    1. Kimberly,

I would rather have a bad thunderstorm instead of tornadoes or ice right now, lol....
When did you live in Oklahoma?

  2. I am betting on rain. If you get snow that means I will get it too and I don't want it.

    Ride the storm out.

    1. Rev. Paul,

Very interesting evening. We went from circular motion and very humid, the food for tornadoes to heavy winds, temperature dropped to 28 degrees, hail, thunder, lightning, and rain.

Thank you for the prayers, we are okay. We hunkered down and rode this baby out.

  7. Sandy, Please stay safe. The weather people scared the daylights out of me this morning also ! I have 80 degrees here today, but it is too soon for this kind of heat, and with cold ringing in tomorrow, there will be lightning. My eldest son hasn't recovered yet from his lightning strike IN a building in September 2011 !

    1. Jane,

Thank you for your thoughts. We hunkered down and played it safe. The weather people seem to love scaring people, they did the same in this area too.

  8. Rain and some mild storms, followed by cold. No tornadoes! Or hail! Or bad stuff!

I was born in Oklahoma and so was all my family, I know all too well of those crazy storms. Spent summers with my Grandparents and many a night in a storm cellar (I LOVED it, ha, probably why I wish we could have one here now, ha).

    1. 1st Man,

We had humidity, circular motion dry lines (all the prep one needs for tornadoes). Then the weather did a dramatic changed, line moved, temperatures dropped to 28 degrees, it hailed, thundered, we had lightning, heavy winds and rain.

I wish we had a safe room in the house. Many of the storm cellars here were under water.

  9. Sandy, I hope you got neither! We are getting some rain but no severe weather and it didn't start until early this morning. They are predicting a freeze....of course, the fruit trees are blooming.......this is not my favorite time of year because of the tornado threats.

    1. Glenda,

So far weve had all kinds of strange weather just in the last 15 hours and now it's starting to snow.

This is not my favorite time of the year either, I don't like tornadoes.

  10. Sandy...I have been so busy the last few days that I just read this. I hope you and your family are all OK. I would not want snow but I think it is a whole heap better than a tornado! Thinking about you all!

    1. Mamma Bear,

We made it through all of this storm stuff okay. A little shingle damage to the roof, but that's nothing to worry about. Thank God we had no tornadoes, the weather was just perfect for them but then it changed and got down right cold. All kinds of wind, rain, hail, thunder, lightning, hail and some snow. Not enough to stay on the ground. The ice stuck around all day though.

    1. Buttons,

We had the bad humidity, dry line and circular movement yesterday afternoon in preparation for tornadoes. Then around 615-630 PM the temperatures started changing along with the dry line. Then we had heavy winds, rain, thunder, lightning, hail along with temperatures reducing to 28 degrees. The temperatures started warming up to about 36 around 7PM tonight. We still have people without power out west of us, there is ice on the trees. I'm sorry it's heading your way :-(
Take care, be safe and stay warm.

  13. I've never even known that such weather can exist in ONE DAY! It sounds like the furnace, air conditioner, and water pump, do overtime in Oklahoma. We're supposed to have a higher rate of hurricanes this year. I miss my old basement.

    1. Lotta Joy,

Oklahoma is very strange with weather. If you don't like the weather, just give it 15 minutes it will change, it always does.

I've never lived in a place with so many dramatic changes in weather.

Basements are so nice to have, I miss having one myself.
I hope you're feeling much better?

  14. We are getting it all here! I just keep telling myself - this is it - this is the last one - then spring will be here to stay. I do hope you weathered the weather well. Let us know.
