My pie pumpkins are going nicely, here’s a picture
of one……I have many of these babies growing.
I ended up harvesting another large bowl of
cucumbers. Relish will be made with
these cucumbers.
I also had to enjoy a
cucumber sandwich with mayo, salt, and pepper……………….It was so good, I think I’ll
have another for lunch tomorrow.
*****
Bulldog Man ran me some quick clothes lines right up
by the back door, and under the tin roof, for easy access. This Mockingbird decided to christen the
line.
*****
Saturday we went fishing and caught many fish, only
two were legal in size and keepers.
I had caught a catfish, and while taking him off the
hook, he decided to flip, and one of his barbs went into my finger and hit a
nerve. Boy did I scream and cuss at that
poor fish. Needless to say, he went back
into the water….. I had enough of him.
I thought I would share several pictures of Lake of
the Arbuckles, with the fog rolling in and the sun coming up.
*****
Finally, I thought I would share this adorable picture
with you.
I think the squirrel thought; if he stood still on
the wall, you wouldn’t be able to see him.
A cucumber sandwich. I'll have to try that, sounds good and not a heavy meal.
ReplyDeleteMike,
DeleteIt's refreshing, especially if your cucumbers are cold.
I think that is a Mockingbird, it certainly isn't a hummer.
ReplyDeleteAnd what kind of fish are those?
PP,
DeleteThanks for the correction. When I was typing this post, I was thinking Mockingbird and typed Hummingbird. Quick on your feet there my friend!!!!
Those are Bass.
What kind of Bass? Stripers of some sort? They don't look like Largemouth or Smallmouth to me but maybe it is a angle of the photo or something.
DeleteStripped.
DeleteAww the pics of the punkins and the lake are great!
ReplyDeleteI am sure you don't see me I am blending with the wall!
M.E.,
DeleteThank you, when I look at these little Pumpkins growing I think about being a little kid and eating Pumpkin seeds.
That's it, the squirrel was blending in with the wall and laying as flat as he could up against the fence pole. He was so silly. This one loves to run on the side of the house all the time. He has a nest up in the tree's at the end of the property.
That lake looks like it would be great for a small sailboat.
ReplyDeleteThe Squirrel was smart, trying to be still and blend in. He escaped unscathed so I am sure he thinks it worked.
What a beautiful lake! Glad you enjoyed your time, even if the catfish was a brief spoiler.
ReplyDeleteFogs in August have been plentiful and beautiful. We are counting so we will know the snows of winter.
ReplyDeleteYour garden produce is looking great.
Did you out fish the men again?!
What squirrel?
I'm hoping winter will be mild this year.
DeleteI love fog, especially watching it roll in.
Yes, I out fished the men :P
You can't see him, he blends in well right, lol
Hey Sweet Sandy,
ReplyDeleteI love the lake, looks so peaceful. Fish look good too, bad that you did not get the catfish, I love me some deep fried catfish nuggets with grits..
I like getting the pie pumkins for the boys so they can decorate one for halloween each year, all though I will say carving one is harder then a jack O Latern pumpkin, the skin is tougher on those little guys,,
Much love to you guys! TTYL
JUGM,
DeleteThe lake is very peaceful. I caught the catfish, reeled him in, and picked him up with a small towel to take him off the hook when he flipped hit my thumb with a barb and I dropped him on the ground. We unhooked him and let him go in the water. I was so mad, I didn't want to keep him. My finger hurt for a while, I couldn't move the thumb for a couple of hours.
Much love to you and yours.
Sandy
hey sweet sandy!
ReplyDeletelong time - boy those fish look good as do your cucumbers (and the sandwich ;-)
that lake is pretty with the mist - i have barbed myself on catfish - NOT pleasant!!!!
glad you are doing well
hugs,
your friend jambaloney!!!
Jambaloney,
DeleteHey there!!!! The fishing was really great when we went out. Caught a bit, released a few because of their size. Yes, the barb hurt like a dickens. I make tomato sandwiches the same way with a little mayo, salt, and pepper. There really good, you should try them.
Give Sweet Kymber a big hug from me. Love you guys,
Sandy
My pumpkins are that same size and grow inches in diameter each day. Amazing. I eat cucumbers and tomatoes three meals a day and never tire of them. LOVE. the bird on the line!
ReplyDeleteMichaele,
DeleteI wish they would hurry up and finish growing so I can make pie..........YUM!!!!!
You and I have both enjoy cucumbers and tomatoes to much :-)
The bird left me a present, lol...
I have to say your pumpkin looks great! I hope it grows well. I was just looking at mine this morning and may have two coming along. I've never done well with pumpkins though. Cucumber sandwiches are a yum!
ReplyDeleteLeigh,
DeleteAll of them are about this size. Now I'm running into a aphids problem on the vines.
Girl...........cucumber sandwiches are the wonderful, so are tomato sandwiches.
I love cucumber sandwiches! So sorry about that hook that you got in the hand. That sounds very painful!
ReplyDeleteWe just got a family of squirrels that moved onto our property this year and they are so much fun to watch!
Hope you are doing great! Blessings!
Susie,
DeleteIt was very painful, and when I touch this area it still hurts.
Squirrel are fun as long as they haven't got into your garden :-)
I'm doing okay, how about you?
Oh Sandy thos fish stingers are the worst glad you had enough of him. Nice cukes I have some on my counter from my neighbour I cannot find my squash or pumpkins in the weeds:) Oh I miss fishing it is beautiful where you were. Hug B
ReplyDeleteB,
DeleteYes I did, after feeling the pain we put him back in the water. Weeds....make for great places to hide, :-)
This lake is gorgeous and quiet too.....most of the time.
