Temperature - Peach Cobbler - Final Day To Register On Give-Away

Kind of high, you think? 

As promised, I made a peach cobbler from scratch with fresh peaches.  By the time the cobbler was finished, Bulldog Man was coming home from work to have lunch and Tank was preparing to go to work.  The boys wanted spaghetti with sauce and chicken.  So I whipped up lunch quickly.  Everyone ate pasta and chicken, then wanted cobbler for dessert.

                                                                   Peach Cobbler
(Recipe from the Salt Lick Restaurant Austin, TX)

(Batter)
½ cup melted butter
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
2/3 cup milk (at room temperature)
1 egg (at room temperature)

(Filling)
9 – 10 fresh peaches (or 28 ounces of sliced peaches, drained)
½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg (if you really like nutmeg, add ½ teaspoon instead)
Directions
Melt butter in a 9X13 baking dish/pan.
Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder & salt.
Stir in milk & egg.
Pour evenly over melted butter.
Combine peaches, sugar & spices and spread over batter * DO NOT STIR!!!!!!
Bake 35-45 minutes at 350 degrees until the batter comes to the top and is golden brown.

    2. 1/2 box of very ripe peaches yielded 6 half pint jars. I now understand why people do whole bushels. It's a lot of work for just a little stuff.

  2. Looks great, I'm allergic to peaches but some apples would substitute nicely.

      Hey girl! With these high temperatures the last couple of days, it's been dry (as Bulldog Man would say, dry as a popcorn fart in a whirl wind).
      The cobbler was delicious, I've been asked to make another for all the people at my sons job.
