Today, Bulldog Man and I spent our Anniversary
helping a friend. We woke this morning
to a beautiful day. The rain had stopped and it was nice to be outside doing
construction type work. Grabbing our
hammers, gloves, screwdrivers, measuring tape, garbage bags and cooler with
water (this is all we needed; our friend had all the other tools), we jumped in
the truck and drove to the next small town, out into the countryside. This friend, a single Mom, purchased a 2 story
home, built back to 1895, four months ago at a great price. The house was moved to a 3 acre plot many
years ago and put up for sell in the countryside. Our friend resides in a trailer on the front
part of the property, while the house is being fixed and updated for the
electric and water. The house has beautiful bones. Initially, other friends through work
volunteered to help this single Mom out with the construction work (long
story). Needless to say, these people
removed the roof on this house, and were supposed to come back and put on a new
roof. They failed to return, and it
rained heavily. The rain caused major
damage to her beautifully aged wood floors causing more work and money (money,
not readily available being a single parent).
Bulldog Man, myself and 4 other friends (reliable
friends) came out to the single Mom’s house and helped clean up all the roofing
that was thrown all over the ground from the previous (friends, that failed to
return). We sent truckloads of wood into
a pit for burning. We removed nails from
wood (good pieces) that could be reused, helped move plywood to the roof, moved
windows into frames and restacked materials out of the way. The house is a long way from being done but
at least the roof is on, preventing more damage and money having to be found to
fix other areas of the house. Overall,
Bulldog and I enjoyed our 9th Wedding Anniversary helping a friend
in need.
Afterwards, we returned home, showered and Bulldog
Man took me out for dinner. Now we are
at home listening to the Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans play football. Happy Anniversary Honey, love you!!!!!
