I’ve been in New Mexico for the past 7 days without
a computer, thought I would share some pictures and a video from my in-laws
porch. It's gorgeous out there.
We went down to surprise my husband’s father for his
75th birthday. Boy was he
surprised when we walked threw the door.
The video is from my in-laws porch. They’re all kinds of hummingbirds flying in
and enjoying the feeders placed around the porch and on the property.
I promise in the next several days, I'll be doing some catch up reading of your blog posts.
So wonderful you were able to be with your FIL on his special day!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, I've never seen so many hummingbirds at one feeder. Enjoy your visit!!
Kimberly,
DeleteThank you, we thought it would be a special treat for my FIL. The hummingbirds in this part of NM are like watching helicopters flying in. They're so many and they're loud.
I remember a day with my dad when we were leaning up against the tailgate of his truck talking and we were very still and there were two hummingbird feeders on each side of the carport and we must have had seven flying all around us, between us while they were feeding. Those birds are amazing. I thought I was going to get impaled by then.
ReplyDeleteSenior,
DeleteThey're amazing birds, and wonderful to watch.
I hear you about feeling like you're going to get impaled. I had one come inches from my eyes, scared me a bit.
It would have been a wonderful day for your husband's father to see you all. It would be a good experience. The route looks so excited.
ReplyDeleteWeekend Windup,
DeleteThe drive was amazing, and yes dad loved having us pop in :-)
What a great way to surprise your FIL. And such pretty scenery for the trip there.
ReplyDeleteSue,
DeleteIt was totally priceless to see his face when we walked in the house. This part of the country is just gorgeous.
Sweet Sandy - that must have been such a surprise and i am sure that you FIL was thrilled. you'll have to tell us more about your visit - what you did, what you ate, where you went, etc.
ReplyDeletei am always delighted to see other parts of north america, the differences and the similarities in landscapes from one end to the other. your pics are beautiful!
we love hummingbirds here too and have 5 feeders set up all around the yard. i love the way they zip by and apparently they only know 1 word - "zawayng-zawayng-zawayng'. our hummingbirds have just had their babies so now we have tons of little baby hummingbirds all fighting at the feeders. they really are amazing.
sending much love to you all! your friend,
kymber
Sweet Angel Kymber,
DeleteMy FIL was totally surprised, he had no idea we were going to show up. My pictures could have been better however, I didn't bring my good camera.
This is the first time I've seen so many hummingbirds at homes on the feeders. These birds make an extremely loud buzzing sound.....they sound like helicopters flying in.
Sending hugs and love to you and Jam
Sandy
What a beautiful part of the country - and what a nice surprise! So glad you and your hubby could get away and enjoy yourselves. Going off line is the best way to get true R&R. Thank you for the pics - they are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSusan,
DeleteThis part of the country is gorgeous, and my FIL was totally surprised. We enjoyed ourselves even though the trip was short. Agreed, going off line is the best.
What a sweet thing for you to do for your FIL's birthday! (My hubby turns 75 this month, too!)
ReplyDeleteSeems as though we haven't had as many hummingbirds around here this year. Now I know where they've all decided to spend their time!
Mama Pea,
DeleteThank you!!! I guess we need to hurry up and drive up to MN to surprise Papa Pea for his Birthday as well....LOL!!!! I'm teasing :-)
We haven't had hummingbirds only one has come around here. The bee's and butterflies haven't been much around here either. What's up with this??
I envy you the trip. Lived there for four years while I was in college. I haven't been back since about 2005. I'd like to take the wife out there, to Chaco canyon and Santa Fe. One of these days....
ReplyDeleteHarry,
DeleteIt's gorgeous countryside out there!!! You'll get there in time, and then you may not want to come back home when you do.
Beautiful! Sounds like a great trip. Welcome home!
ReplyDeleteNothing like the wide open spaces of New Mexico! Enjoy your trip.
ReplyDeleteSandy:
ReplyDeleteglad you had such a good visit - i have a couple of days left to get you on last batch of trout ;-)
hugs!
