Fast and Furious

Bulldog Man and I took a nice trip to Southern New Mexico last week, to surprise his parents.  We realized it had been 2+ years since we last saw his parents.  Where did time go?  It flies so fast, and before you know it, years have passed by.

The trip was fast and furious.  We had two days to travel to and from home, and 3 days to take care of anything Bulldog Man’s parents needed help with.

We had so much fun catching up, and just being with his parents.  Every time we visit them it’s so relaxing and enjoyable.  Their home sits in a basin of the desert surrounded completely by mountains.

At night you can see stars and planets everywhere.  The first time I visited Bulldog Man’s parents, I felt as if I were in heaven.  I ventured outside and looked up at the sky.  I felt as if I could reach out and touch the stars.  This was the first time in my life where I had seen so many stars, and had this natural calm instantly come over me.

When traveling out West and in the mountains, you must drink plenty of water, due to the elevation changes, to keep hydrated, and not miss out on any authentic Mexican food.  Yes, that’s right…..Bulldog Man and I took his parents out to eat, and had REAL Mexican food at Si Senors.  The food just melted in your mouth.  And don’t forget to order yourself up a plate of Stuffed Sopapillas with honey.

Not only did we fill ourselves up with great food, I learned how to knit from my MIL. Bulldog Man spent time with his Dad at his Men’s Bible Study group, and we caught up with dear friends.  

Now that we’re home, it’s time to get back to work on the homestead, and find a place to hang 2 beautiful wind chimes my MIL made out of wine bottles.

Life is good!!

Seeds and Suprises

Yearly, I make a list of seeds I’ve used in the garden; to replenish my seed collection, when the catalogs start arriving in my post office box.  

This season, I replenished my vegetable stash with more beans, carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, and peppers. 

I’ve also added some new flower seeds to my collection; Moonflower, Grandpa Ott’s Morning Glory, Butterweed, Red Milkweed, and Bunny tails.

 Last season, a friend planted these awesome looking Purple Podded Pole Beans and talked about them on her blog; they intrigued me.  To my surprise, while at the post office, there was an envelope in my box from Susan over at e-i-e-i-omg blog.  She sent me an envelope of these awesome beans.  I just wanted to shout out to Susan a thank you, and let her know I’ve got the perfect place to plant these beans.  Oh…..I can’t wait to plant them!!!!!

This season, our garden beds won’t be as busy as in previous seasons.   There’s just so much going on in our lives right now, and not enough time.  In future posts, I look forward to sharing with you the changes we will be making.

One more surprise…..this one was from my landlord’s boyfriend.  A picture of my parents’ laser etched on a black granite stone.  Wow…..a gorgeous picture I will share with my sister.  Thank you T and J!!!

A Bitter Sweet Good Bye

Many of you know my Dad passed in December of 2013.  Days after Dad’s passing Mom became real sick and ended up in the hospital to have major surgery.  After the surgery, Mom never really got better and took a downward spiral; she passed away in August of 2015.

Most of you have been with me through my rough journey. The last 4 ½ months I’ve spent weekends, and some week days, traveling back and forth to Texas, to work on cleaning, repainting, repairing and rebuilding areas within my parents’ house in order to sell it.  My sister and I, with the help of my wonderful husband, Bulldog Man, finished working at my parents’ house last weekend, and handed the keys over to a Real Estate agent.  

Our Real Estate Agent put the house up on the MLS, and sold the house in less than 1 ½ days.    We received multiple offers on the house, and both my sister and I agreed to one of the offers.  Papers were signed, and now we wait for the closing date.

It’s bitter sweet to say good bye to a house we all loved for 9 years; my parents’ home, where they retired in Weatherford, Texas. 

This house will bring many memories for the new family moving in.
