If you’re interested in winning this package of

Ball Culinary Herb Series Jars

Tell me what spices…. you’re planning on planting in your garden….and for those who are not planting spices, what fresh spices have you bought at the store lately?

Please place a comment below on this post.  This will qualify, and enter you in the drawing.

Entries must be received by Wednesday, February 4, 2015 by 11:59 PM. The drawing will be held Thursday morning, February 5, 2015.

All names will be placed in a bowl, and a name will be drawn from the bowl Thursday morning, February 5th.  If your name is picked as the winner, I will post your first name on my blog site, along with my e-mail address.

You will have 4 business days to respond to me, by e-mail, with your mailing address. If I receive no response from the winner, your entry will be null (void), and I will be required to pick another winner.

  3. The Mrs. Planted Basil and Oregano out in the raised beds. It's now taken over and I have to beat it back with a flame thrower each Summer.

  7. basil & dill in my tomatoes keeps bugs at bay and bees to pollinate. Plus they make great seasonings for the rest of the year. Thanks for the op!

    1. M.E.,

I love these spices, didn't know they help keep the bugs away. I'll have to keep that in the back on my head when planting tomatoes. I've entered your name in the give-away, good luck!

And please give my entry to ME Masterson if my name is drawn, as I have to use the mega jars to fill up - we are definitely a feral quantity here LOL Esp. the Dill as Im addicted to Dill dip and dill cheese dip and dill avocado dip etc so I plant tons of the stuff...no wonder the marjoram makes me blind, its the dill that started it!

    1. Sharon,

Great spice selection. Have you noticed Thai basil taking over your garden? My basil took over the entire area in the garden bed. I've entered your name in the drawing, good luck!

  10. I haven't had much luck growing them actually. Other than Rosemary, which I couldn't kill off until the Moose dug them up and thought he could move them. Then they died off, and I haven't been able to get any back or to grow well. I've tried but the deer seem to love my Stevia, parsley, basil and dill plants. Ate them down to bare stems.

I'm hoping to set up a small herb garden in our new planter boxes. I just have to do some more research on what will tolerate the heat here (just because they sell them in the store doesn't mean they're even for here in Central FL), or be able to move them to shady areas on property, etc.

    1. Izzy,

Rosemary grows like crazy when planted in gardens. It's always so healthy, and grows like a tree. I think a small herb garden will looks great in those new planter boxes. I've entered your name in the give-away, good luck!

  11. I have my four clumps of chives that come up year after year. Always grow lots of parsley as I dry tons of it. Dill, of course, because of my pickling mania. CANNOT grow basil for anything. Probably 'cause our summers aren't hot enough. Oregano, rosemary, coriander, thyme, sage . . . I get kinda carried away.

We both get carried away. Fresh spices, make for great toppings and flavors on all our foods. I've entered your name in the give-away, good luck!

  12. I haven't really gotten my planning together for this Spring. It will be our first attempt at a real garden in many years. I know my wife is planning to grow herbs in her plant room, in big pots. We'll see how it develops.

    1. Harry,

Growing herbs in pots is a great idea. It makes having the herbs closer to the house, and at your finger tips when cooking. I'm sure your wife will have a hefty herb harvest this spring. I've entered your name in the give-away. Good Luck!
