SPAM DAMAGE

Blogger friends, I’m in the process of trying to recover comments that have been removed in error, while deleting massive spam which keeps targeting my blog.

For those of you who entered their names in the giveaway, please don’t worry; your names have been registered and the giveaway will still be processed.

  1. Interestingly enough I have stopped gettign spam for the last few days. I usually delete a few hundred every day but lately it's been telling me there were no spam comments. I though blogger had done something new.

    1. Sandy, hang in there, spam can be a pain. I do allow anonymous comments and the spam I sent all anonymous emails to go into a folder in my gmail account so I didn't really have to ever mess with them. I would just check the blogger comment list for the spam ones and make sure nothing was a legit comment. It has worked very well.

PioneerPreppy, glad to hear it's not just me. I used to get spam emails daily and a few days back they just stopped completely. Like zero for days now. I half thought that maybe something was screwed up in my settings.

    2. PP,
I've blocked anonymous posts months ago because of spam, and now I'm getting continuous spam with specific name individuals from and Asian country.

    3. 1st Man,

I'm trying to recover comments from all of my blogger friends on several current posts. The last three posts I've created were hit with spam, and when I deleted the spam comments one by one, it hit my regular comments.....just irritated.

  2. Spam is a real pain. I got rid of most of it by eliminating anonymous comments, which was a shame because I did get some valid anon comments. I hope you get it figured out soon. Have you queried the blogger forums?

    1. Leigh,

Several months back I eliminated the option for anonymous comments because I was getting all kinds of spam. Lately, I've been targeted by spam from and Asian country. I'm hoping to recover comments from friends on my last posts. I'm researching blogger forums and have decided if I can't get this resolved I may just have to delete some posts. The resent giveaway post was targeted, I'm happy to say I always capture the names of everyone who enters the giveaways on a spreadsheet automatically. So there's no loss there, and the giveaway will continue and be announced as scheduled.

  3. Malware and viruses came for treats and then tricked me. I've been cleaning the computer all week.

My spam has been low. Probably crowded out by the other varmints paying a visit.

    Speedy recovery.

    1. Gail,

Varmints and spammers can be a real pain, I'm hoping to resolve this issue. If not, I will have no choice but to remove the last several posts.

Thanks Gail, I'm hoping for a speedy recovery for both of us.

  4. Spam is always a pain in the rear. Cycle through word verification, and other settings, then ease back into your personal preference setting. The spam seems to be cyclical in nature.

    1. JUGM,

Yes you can enter. I'm going to make a post this evening with a list of all who have entered the giveaway. This way everyone knows I haven't lost their entries. You can post on the old giveaway post or wait until this evening and enter on that post.

  6. I've been though that issue. Somebody signed me up for all these things that send you coupons and discounts, and reviews, and god knows what else. It took me a long time to get them blocked and I still get a lot of it.
