Unexpected News

Happy belated Thanksgiving to all of my Blogger friends.  I've not been on the computer in a couple of days and haven't forgotten  about you.

As you know from previous posts, my Dad had cancer, and kicked its butt.  On Wednesday, I received a call from my Mom informing me Dad had taken a turn for the worse.  We came down to Texas to be by my Dad's side, while friends take care of our animals and home.

My Dad is resting at home, with the help of Hospice, sexy nurses (inside joke with my Dad), and medication to make the last days of his life easier and pain free.

Once again, I ask if you could please send prayers.

Thank you, your friend,

Sandy

Faces of Ice

It got down right cold, wet, icy, and windy.  Then the wind calmed down, the News people kept saying expect snow…………………… it snowed very little.  Not enough to even talk about.
We stayed home, kept warm and safe.  Tomorrow we will venture out.
This storm is moving east, ya’ll be careful, and stay warm.

The Ice is Starting

The wind is terrible, and the ice is coming in.  I’m sitting inside enjoying a nice cup of tea, and then it’s outside time with my Yakatrax to salt down a few areas. Temperatures keep dropping; snow is on its way. I'm happy I did all my  errands, shopping, and getting gas early this morning before it became nasty outside :-)

The ice building on the truck mirror as I'm shopping at the grocery store.
Ice starting to build, before turning into a gas station.

Stay warm and safe people!!!

Gun Show OKC

Today, the weather was a little nasty with drizzle and wind, so Bulldog Man and I went out to the gun show up at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds.

We walked around, found an NcStar Optic for one of our guns, and an inexpensive solid knife to add to Bulldog Man’s hunting gear.

How’s your weekend going?

Union Soldiers Cemetery

Today, Bulldog Man and I wanted to visit a military cemetery to honor and show our respect to fallen military soldiers and their family members.

We drove up to Oklahoma City, to visit a cemetery located across from the 45th Infantry Division Museum off of NE 36th Street, called the Oklahoma Veteran’s Cemetery; formerly known as the Union Soldiers Cemetery.

This cemetery is the final resting place of 63 Army veterans, 3 veteran's wives, and one veteran's daughter. Soldiers buried here served in Army units from Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, & Tenn. Included are three men who fought in the Indian Wars. The cemetery has been re-designated as Oklahoma Veterans Cemetery, and now may be used for the resting place for any honorably discharged member of the Armed Forces of the United States.

While visiting this cemetery, Bulldog Man and I read each headstone, cleared leaves, dirt, and any debris found on each headstone, and made sure the flowers, lights, and flags were standing properly.
There were 6 unknown headstones placed at the cemetery.

This Sergeant First Class severed Vietnam twice, and in WWII.

Before leaving, a prayer was said, acknowledging these men and women for their service and sacrifice for this country and our freedoms.

Preventing Winter Disasters

This weekend was a working weekend out on the property.  I drove the lawn tractor cutting all the grass, while Bulldog Man and Tank started cutting down dead trees, and those messing with power lines.

Tank’s old ‘70 Chevy has come in handy for loading and hauling off old trees and debris.  I love the sound of the roaring engine behind the hood of that old C10.

As we were all out working, Beans decided it was sleep time. Here’s a picture of Beans sleeping in his fuzzy bed with his teddy bear (chew toy).

Have you checked the price of gas lately?  It’s running a little lower than usual here.  This is the price at the closest gas pump.

I don’t know about you, I prefer to run with 100 percent gas in my vehicles, not that ethanol stuff that causes problems with my truck.
